A Note from Thea re: Church Family Missions
It was at a missions meeting I (Thea) attended with a friend that I met Bill and Liz Gieg, the founders of Church Family Missions. They were talking about an upcoming missions trip to Honduras. I somehow knew that I was going to go on that trip. Sure enough, I ended up in Honduras, building a church. Four years later, in 2010, I introduced Tim to Bill and Liz, and it wasn’t long before he decided to go on the next mission trip, to Nicaragua. It was Tim’s first mission trip, and what an eye-opener it was for him. Our project was to build a school.
Every morning as we arrived at the worksite, we were greeted by a group of boys who had been working since 6 a.m., waiting for our arrival so they would get breakfast. These boys were all unemployed, volunteering with the construction of the school. Their only pay was two free meals per day. Many of these youths had been in gangs, engaging in crime and using drugs, when they were befriended by Nicaraguan Rigoberto Reyes, a former Dole executive who found the Lord and became a pastor to the poor. Rigo had a burden for these youths and started a school which offered programs in agriculture, carpentry and welding. His dream was to train these youths with skills, which would provide them with employment so they would no longer depend on crime and gangs in order to survive.
This is only one example of the projects Bill and Liz undertake every year. They are committed to serving the poor of Central America through yearly missions projects. Since 1991, they have established orphanage buildings, medical clinics, schoolrooms and churches in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Bill and Liz personally raise the funds for each project, without administrative costs – 100% goes to the project. I have never met such dedication before. This year their team is going back to Nicaragua in May. Not only will they be involved in a building project and a children’s outreach program, but they are also taking a medical team along to serve the needs of some of the poorest people in Nicaragua.
Your gift to Church Family Missions will help provide medicines for the upcoming May 2012 medical project to Nicaragua or help in the construction at the new agricultural training project site that we will work on with the construction team also during that same May project. Go to Alternative Gifts

May 2012 Construction Project
Along with the Medical Project, Church Family Missions will be taking a team for a construction/children's ministry project at the same time. So if you have a family member that you have wanted to bring with you while on the Medical team, that would like to participate in other areas of ministry, this may be the opportunity to travel and serve together. If you are interested in this contact me and I will give you further instructions.
We are very excited about this new vision and do believe that the Lord led us to combine the teams.
Thanks and God bless your decision to participate in May 2012,
